Potton United secured a double over local rivals St Neots with a 2-1 victory on Tuesday night.

Saints took the lead through former Royal John Coley, who was later sent off for two first-half bookable offences.

Former Saints manager Steve Kuhne equalised for Potton early in the second half before Luke Lincoln scored the winner with a well-taken goal just inside the 18-yard box.

Potton dominated the remainder of the game and some outstanding saves from man of the match Ryan Hunt in the St Neots goal kept the home side in contention and prevented United from winning by a bigger score.

They could only share six goals at home to second from bottom Desborough on Saturday.

Potton looked the strongest from the kick off and Mark Bryant was unlucky not score an early goal when he saw his header go inches past the post.

A rare mistake from Ian Morrison gifted Desborough the opening goal when his weak header to keeper Steve Graham was intercepted by Jamie O'Neil who rounded the keeper and slotted into the empty net.

Desborough doubled their lead after 30 minutes when a corner was punched into his own net by Graham.

Potton reduced the deficit 12 minutes into the second half from a Nathan Buckland penalty but Desborough soon restored their two-goal advantage when Michael Byrne beat Graham, although the goal came from a dubious offside position.

A rare goal from Andy Carter again reduced the deficit and Potton ensured they collected a point when Kuhne got the final touch from a corner deep in stoppage time.

Biggleswade Town were unfortunate to lose 2-1 at Oxhey Jets on Saturday in what was new manager Chris Nunn's first game in full control.

Having spent the week trying to get in new players, he put out a side which included just two new faces - Dean Chapman at left-back and James Benton in midfield.

Previous manager Jon Mills filled in at centre-half in place of the injured Kevin Randall and the now departed Glen Draper.

In the first half Biggleswade were the better side but both teams had good chances to score only to be denied by some fine saves by the two goalkeepers on view, Lee Robinson's reflexes being tested to the full.

The Waders deservedly took the lead after half an hour when Aaron Fehmi crossed from the left and Danny Bowgett, returning from suspension, met it with his head to nod home from six yards.

As expected the home side pressed hard at the beginning of the second half and again tested Robinson before equalising after 55 minutes when Paul Turner latched on to a long throw before turning two defenders and scoring from close range.

The game continued to flow from end to end and it looked like going either way until the 78th minute when Fehmi was sent off for a petulant kick at an Oxhey player - a decision with which the Waders' management had no complaints.

Down to 10 men, the Waders were somewhat unlucky to lose to a wickedly deflected shot from Wayne Gladdy in the 85th minute.

But there are signs that things are improving and it will not be long until they start to pick up points and climb out of the relegation zone.

Biggleswade United shared the points at home to London Colney.

Jack Weeden and Marc Holmes gave them a two-goal lead but the visitors scored twice in five minutes midway through the second period to earn a point.
