Probuild got off to a winning start in the Premier Division of the North and Mid Herts Football League.

A brace from Gary Pomfret saw Probuild lead at the break after falling behind. A second-half brace from Ricky Lawrence made it four before Dave Clemence's clumsy challenge awarded London Colney a penalty to reduce the deficit to 4-2.

Magnum went down 6-2 at London Road despite Carl Roberts and Mark Woodhams twice equalising to make it all square at one stage.

Sporting KFA won 5-2 against Whitwell Village after midfielder Marvin Brooks opened the scoring.

Richard Savio equalised before Dean Taylor and Daniel Myles netted either side of half time for Sporting KFA. Savio's second of the day made it 3-2 but goals from John Woodbine and Manjit Singh ensured the points went to Sporting KFA.

Reigning league champions Nirankari played league newcomers Welwyn Garden City Res and won a 10-goal thriller. Nirankari raced into a two-goal lead courtesy of flying wingers Graham Austin and Adrian Spence.

The Citizens levelled before Austin restored Nirankari's advantage and then Welwyn GC equalised once more.

Austin bagged his third and fourth and Ben L'Honore made it six before Welwyn GC managed a consolation in the final minute.

White Hart won 4-0 against Redbourn with goals from Ross Braine, Matt Holmes (penalty), David Locke and Carl Lingwood.

In Division One North, City Hearts hit Westwell for six. Their scorers were Gareth Brown, Ian Worthington, Mark Shrubsole and a deserved hat-trick from new recruit Andy Truett.

Stephen Murthagh opened the floodgates with five-goal David Pateman being supported by further goals from Tom Hillard, Klogo Richards, Luke Mitchell, Declan McMahon (two) and Chris Bunker.

St Ippolyts and Probuild Res shared four goals in their match.
