The Hitchin Sunday Football League round-up

Operation Swordfish have completed the second part of a likely treble by lifting the George John Memorial Trophy.

They beat Kcinsatop Res in the final at Hitchin Town's Top Field on Sunday night.

Swordfish, with the divisional cup already in the bag and the league title to follow, did not have it all their own way as they completed the cup double with a 4-1 victory.

It was a better day for Kcinsatop's first team as they finished the season with a 4-1 win against Whitwell in the Premier Division.

The victory confirmed them as champions as they ended the season on 34 points, two ahead of Red Star ICL and AEK Letchworth.

In Division One, Baldock Engine still have the league in their own hands but cannot afford any more slip-ups following their midweek loss to Kcinsatop Res. SMU travelled to The Grange and were beaten 4-1 as the Engine returned to winning ways.

In Division Two, Shillington won 2-1 at Jackmans Jackdaws to make mathematically certain they cannot be caught by Offley Parish. Rob Walker scored the Jackmans goal in that encounter.

Steve Cox scored twice as Radcliffe Arms won 2-0 against North Herts Hatters.

Offley Parish leapfrogged Jackmans Jackdaws into second after they beat Walsworth 3-0.

It was a goal fest between Ocean's Eleven and Dynamo Letchworth as Ocean's secured a 8-4 win with goals from Darren Lumbis (hat-trick), Alex Taylor (two), Andrew Bliss, Tommy Hines and Martin Clark.

Trevor Long also found the target, but embarrassingly for him, it was at the wrong end. Long was just pleased it did not affect the outcome.

In Division Three, there was a real ding-dong affair between village sides Shillington Sunday and Clifton, the Shills running out 5-4 victors after at one stage leading 4-0. Phil Mansford (two), Chris Coveney and Dale Horner scored for Clifton.

Crown Stotfold booked their place in the Subsidiary Cup final in unusual fashion as their winner-takes-all clash with Angels Reply was called off after Angels failed to raise a team for the match.

Crown Stotfold will now play Whitwell in an all-Premier Division final at Hitchin Town this Sunday.
