A TRIO of world champions were rewarded at the third annual Comet Sports Awards on Friday night.

Cyclist Victoria Pendleton, Great Britain Deaf football squad manager Phillip Gardner and veteran athlete Joylyn Saunders-Mullins won categories in the ceremony held at the Stevenage site of main sponsors North Hertfordshire College.

There was a winner and two finalists in each of the dozen categories, which were sponsored by local businesses and organisations.
