Letchworth took a big step towards playing in Division One of The Broadview Windows North Herts League next summer.

Their promotion hopes from Division Two were boosted by a 107-run win over one of their main rivals, Datchworth.

Sam Booth scored 144, including five huge sixes, as Letchworth totalled an imposing 282-5.

Dan Hirst, dropped on nought in one of a few escapes, contributed 70 in a second wicket partnership of 200.

Datchworth closed on 175-8 in reply to be well beaten.

* Holwell had a convincing win at Breachwood Green in Division One.

The home team won the toss and batted first and found runs difficult to come by against some tight Holwell bowling.

Yassir top scored but was superbly run out by Wayne Alleyne for 32.

John Mansfield (3-32) and Ivan Hopkinson (2-0) were Holwell's leading bowlers as Breachwood Green were all out for 90.

Despite the loss of Julian Rudder, yet again Adam Parkins was in superb form smashing 60no as Holwell won by nine wickets in barely 15 overs.

Baldock lost a good game of cricket to Hatfield by three wickets.

Batting first on a good wicket, Baldock got a competitive score of 184-9 off 40 overs. Graham Letford scored 42 and Jack Mead again impressed with 30 which included a large six and three fours.

In reply, Hatfield lost two early wickets but then recovered well to take the score to 70-2.

Letford's leg-spin accounted for four Hatfield batsmen, with some beautifully disguised googlies fooling three of the dumbfounded batters.

These wickets kept Baldock in it until Hatfield got home in the 38th over with three wickets intact.

Letford took 4-44 from eight good overs, while Rob Peacock (2-28) and James McHaul (1-37) also bowled well.
