FVS TRI's Steve Harrison won the British Triathlon National Age Group Championships at Wakefield outright.

Not only was he the fastest in the 30-34 age group and therefore Age Group Champion, he also beat every other age group to win the race in a storming time of 2-04:34, beating the second place finisher by over a minute.

He has now been invited into the Elite Race at The London Triathlon next month.

The race also provided the last chance to qualify for the Age Group World Championships in Switzerland ensuring the highest quality field.

Describing the course as "tough up North", the organisers provided a two mile climb on the bike straight out of the first transition after a 1500m swim.

Steve completed the swim in 21:26, including the transition from swim to bike, the 40k hilly bike course in 1-07:22 and then the 10k run to finish in 35:42 to give an overall time of 2-04:34.

Mick Humphris of TRISPORTS Letchworth is particularly pleased as he selected Steve for support earlier this season and the choice proved to be a wise one.

David and Sally Harkins travelled to Bournemouth and raced the sea based Sprint Triathlon. Sally was first in the 45/49 age group with a time of 1-34:08; a three minute PB on last year's time and Dave was fifth in the 40/44 age group in a time of 1-15:31.

Four members of FVS TRI made the trip to St Albans to compete in the pool based Sprint with Mick Humphris earning a PB in 1:18 just beating Ellie Burton who finished in 1:19.

First home for the club was Ian Hobbs, followed by Gerry Corrance competing well in his first season of triathlon.

Alison Wood competed in the Timex Women's Only Triathlon at Dorney Lakes Eton last weekend and was rewarded with a second place in 40/44 age group in her first ever triathlon. She completed the 800m lake swim, 31k bike and 7.5k run in 1-56:01.

At the Stevenage Wednesday Evening 10 Mile TT, Boris Chambon equalled the course record on a night where many earned new PBs in almost perfect conditions for cycling.

Boris continued his winning form to consolidate his lead in the series with Steve Harrison a close second.

Four members of FVS TRI braved the heat to compete in the Aston Five Mile Road Race with Ian Owens leading the club home, just ahead of Chris Suckling. Tony Shortland was a little slower than last year and Sarah Cannon made her first competitive outing for 2006.
