THE world's leading darts players will visit Stevenage in April.

The 2006 Holsten Premier League is taking place at the Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre.

Premier League Darts sees seven stars, including 13-times world champ Phil The Power Taylor, facing each other over 10 league nights around the UK.

The top four will then play-off for the £50,000 first prize in Plymouth at the end of May.

The Professional Darts Corporation's roadshow event visits the town on Thursday, April 27, with tickets now on sale at £20 and £15.

The evening's matches will begin with Dutchman Roland Scholten facing Peter Manley before a repeat of the inaugural final sees Taylor take on current world number one Colin Lloyd.

Flamboyant Essex star Wayne Mardle will then meet world number three Ronnie Baxter before Scholten returns to the stage to face the mystery seventh player - who has yet to be announced.

"Last year's tournament was a huge success and we're sure that the 2006 Holsten Premier League will surpass that," said PDC chief executive Tim Darby.

"Premier League Darts has become a firm favourite with both players and fans alike, with a number of venues selling out already."
