The Stevenage Half Marathon in November will certainly see some athletics fireworks as it has been selected to host the Southern Counties Championships.
This means the best road runners from the 24 counties from Norfolk to Cornwall will be competing on November 5.
The championships include an open event for senior men and women and also championships for veteran men and women in the same race.
Race director Tony Osborne, from organisers Fairlands Valley Spartans, said: "This is due to the hard work of my predecessors over the past 20 years in building up this event to have such a good reputation.
"Hopefully the change to a more interesting course, with the finish on Ridlins track in 2005, all helped to add to the atmosphere.
"The change to a two-lap course also made the event more exciting for spectators.
