Knebworth Park opens up their first full week of action for all their six league teams this Saturday.

Their first team are visiting near neighbours Welwyn Garden City.

There will be a new look to the Park batting line-up with the arrival of Tony Skeggs and David Lowe, both former youth products of the club and both Hertfordshire Minor Counties players.

The club has also been strengthened by the arrival of Rob Murphy, a New Zealander who has lived in this country for several years, and wicketkeeper Harry McCue who has also joined from Welwyn Garden City.

Knebworth, who are again being coached by Australian Graham Rose, warmed up at the weekend with a narrow win over South Hampstead in The Evening Standard Trophy.

Impressive bowling on a rain-affected wicket bowled out the visitors for 113.

Chris Brook (2-25) soon had the Londoners in trouble at 15-2 before they recovered to 63-2 and were going well when Graham Fisher removed Salvi for 33 and Ahmed for 52 in taking 2-14 in his eight overs.

Paul Slade (4-31) accelerated South Hampstead's demise and then Clayton Riley whisked out the last two batsmen.

All was going well for the Park in reply while Lowe was in full cry before he went for 26 and fellow opener Adrian Holmes who had also looked in good form followed for 29. The pair had added 47 for the first wicket.

The Park were in the driving seat at 71-2 but runs became hard to come by and with wickets falling the pressure mounted.

Finally, with eight wickets down, Brook and Fisher saw them home in the penultimate over.

They now face High Wycombe in the next round on June 4.

This Sunday, they play Radlett in the second round of the Cockspur National Cup.

On Saturday, most Saracens Herts League games were washed out.

The seconds had Welwyn GC 2nds at 127-5 after 43 overs, while Northampton Exiles were 134-3 against the thirds.

The fifths did complete their game in the rain at Abbots Langley, ending on 176-6 in chasing 210-3, Steve Large scoring 55 and skipper John Inman 45no.

The fourths were without a game because their opponents Rising Stars have pulled out of the league and the first team's friendly with Harpenden was rained off.
