St Francis College in Letchworth won the National Schools' Show Jumping Championship by a substantial margin.

The competition was held recently at Merrist Wood Agricultural College in Guildford. The quartet had qualified for the championships earlier in the year and were competing against more than 40 schools from across the UK.

The four young team members from St Francis College had to complete a testing show jumping and indoor cross-country course of 16 fences within an optimum time and then were judged on their style and performance.

Foot perfect Sidonie Quorn (13) from Shillington riding Jeannie Dreams, Emily Tollafield from Lower Gravenhurst (10) on Puzzle, Georgie Harris from Baldock on Mister Ed (11) and Rhiannon Griffiths (13) from Knebworth riding The Backstreet Boy were worthy winners.

They are pictured below having received their prizes.

Individually the riders were well placed.

Georgie came third overall on her second ride, Just Like That, Emily took fifth place despite being one of the youngest riders, and Rhiannon and Sidonie were one mark apart in eighth and ninth place out of 170 riders.
