Sharks start 2011 in fine style

Second place finish in Herts Major League

Letchworth Sharks started 2011 in fine style with second place in the Herts Major League on Saturday.

The Sharks were just beaten by St Albans with Buntingford, Kings Langley, Bushey and Cheshunt trailing a long way behind.

The girls’ open team won every event in their category; Ashleigh Godfrey in backstroke, Georgina Godfrey butterfly, Georgina Quayle frontcrawl and breaststroke with Holly Marshall completing the team for relays.

Michael Levet was swimmer of the gala for a win in his frontcrawl race in a new personal best time plus outstanding relay swims.

The boys’ open team almost won as many points as the girls; Michael Hardy won the frontcrawl, supported by Tom Plater, Arthur Thomson and Sebastian deTrafford in the relays.

Alessandra Stevens and Jacob Myner won their races in new best times and Ellie Hardy won her breaststroke race and the medley relay with Megan Levet, Imogen deTrafford and sarah Plater.

The boys’ under-16 team of Michael Levet, Jacob Myner, James Thomson and Dominic Stevens won their freestyle relay and the girls’ under-14 team of Alessandra Stevens, Robyn Godfrey, Zoe Taylor and Coral Smith won their medley.

With Lee Brown, Christian deTrafford (twice), Coral Smith, Dominic Stevens, Zoe Taylor and Arthur Thomson all setting their best ever times in their individual events, the Sharks are looking forward hungrily to the next round.
