THE future of Henlow Greyhound Stadium is in safe hands even if the man himself failed to make an appearance at the track this week.

Former Arsenal and England goalkeeper David Seaman, known as Safe Hands during his career, was due to visit the new restaurant on Monday night.

But a fall during filming for the television show Dancing On Ice meant a hospital visit and put paid to the stadium's hopes of welcoming the footballing ace.

Henlow is in the process of undergoing major refurbishment work, including new offices being built, while their newly designed restaurant opened early in December.

Manager George Wallace said: "Saturday nights are really taking off here. It's gone from 40-50 people to 400 for just the one night."

And the stadium is not resting on its laurels.

Negotiations are well underway for live racing from Henlow to be televised. This will be a regular Monday night slot on Sky television (Channel 425).

A definite is the first ever hurdles race at Henlow in early March.

There is seating for 140 people and Tote runners mean you do not have to get out of your seat to place a bet.

The restaurant is open seven days a week and on Sundays, people can sample the all-day roast from midday.

There are also plans to host themed evenings including Chinese, Thai, Indian, Mexican and more.

For business guests, full corporate packages depending on individual requirements can be offered.

Companies can sponsor a race on right nights as well.
