David Seaman, the ex-England and Arsenal goalkeeper, was the star attraction at Henlow Greyhound Stadium on Monday evening.
Seaman, who has owned greyhounds in the past, spent the evening in the restaurant chatting over dinner with stadium owner Kevin Boothby, as well as some of the owners and trainers.
He was originally due to come to the track in February but had to postpone at short notice after his partner was injured during filming of the ITV show Dancing on Ice.
After dinner, Seaman went on an impromptu walkabout of the stadium, where he chatted to racegoers and signed autographs.
He also popped into the kennels, where he spoke to some of the trainers and asked about the facilities.
