A search is well and truly on at Hitchin Rugby Club for new youth players of all abilities.

The club host their annual open day for budding rugby players this Sunday from 10.30am.

Girls and boys aged from five to 18 and their parents are welcome to come along for an introduction to the sport at King George V Playing Field in Old Hale Way - no rugby knowledge is necessary!

All abilities, shapes and sizes are welcome. There is room for all in rugby and the aim of the club is to provide enjoyment, fitness, discipline and social skills as well as a grounding in rugby.

Hitchin run sides at every age group at mini and youth rugby level.

Tim Jeffries, chairman of the mini and youth section at Hitchin, said: "Our aim is to make rugby fun and with our coaching and training every Sunday we ensure everyone gets the most out of the sport.

"We hope lots of youngsters from Hitchin and the surrounding area will come to the open day to find out more about the sport and the friendliness of our club."

As well as an introduction to rugby, there will also be raffles, tombolas plus a barbecue and bar.

Just turn up with some sports kit this Sunday.

For further information call Tim Jeffries on 01763 287460 (evenings).
