The club enjoyed success in the first round of the ladies' over-60s trophy.

Their Red teams of Jean Lock, Shay Mumford, Yvonne Hull and skip Gill Walker together with Rita Newbury, Mary Cole, Mina Reid and skip Angie Fabris had a resounding win over Harpenden Indoor Bowls Club by 45 shots (62-17).

The Blue teams of Joyce Rolph, June Mills, Muriel Saunders and skip Gill Calver together with Enid Newman, Barbara Turner, Marjorie Emery and skip Shirley Hughes were narrowly beaten by Luton Indoor Bowls Club by eight shots (38-30).

In the Lingford Trophy, the teams of Linda O'Flanagan, Joan Welch, Heather Stapleford and skip Rose Castle together with Sharon Allen, Jackie Milton, Barbara Billingham and skip Jenny Ralph won against Watford Indoor Bowls Club by 17 shots (45-28).

Riverain won by 24 shots (176-152) against Southall in a weekend friendly match held at the club.

Skips only: Sam Skinner lost 19-20, Bert Saich won 19-15, Ron Lock won 21-18, Jim Baird won 31-16, Gordon Papworth lost 11-35, Kath Maxwell lost 15-23, Joan Papworth won 33-6, Ray Hughes won 27-19.

They were well beaten by 43 shots (132-89) in a weekend friendly match held at Dartford Stone Lodge Bowls Club.

Skips only: Michael Judd 7-37, Paul Bryant won 19-11, Ann Graves lost 15-23, Jeff Smith lost 11-24, Pat Smith lost 11-28, Mick Hyde won 26-9.

# There was a local derby for Stevenage Leisure Centre IBC in their first match of the season.

They played against Stevenage Old Town where many members belong to both clubs!

Stevenage Leisure Centre emerged as victors by a large margin of 59 shots (109-50). Their highest winning rink was skipped by Angela Newstead, with Nita Harper, Alec Stewart and Evelyn Coombes.

The club is still open to new members, with their weekend-only membership offer being open at a reduced rate.
