Stevenage Boro Ladies needed extra time to overcome Met Police from the Greater London League in the FA Cup.

Key players returned to the squad after injury as Boro managed a 2-1 win after extra time.

The Met scored early in the first half after keeper Sarah Allcock-Green misjudged the flight of the ball.

Katie Light almost got the equaliser shortly after with a great run from midfield, taking the ball round the keeper but just slotting the wrong side of the post.

Centre-back April Spang also narrowly missed a header from a corner just before the break.

Minutes into the second period, Light got the equaliser after attacking a good cross from captain Janet Mansell on the right.

In the first period of extra time, some fantastic play down the right between right-back Emma Edwards and Mansell resulted in the winner from Edwards' 20-yard shot.

Boro Ladies were playing a local derby against Stevenage Vixens last night (Wednesday) and have a tough league game against Cottenham this Sunday.

Arlesey Town Ladies went out of the FA Cup, losing 3-1 at Beds and District Blues.

Julia Booker had put them ahead in the 25th minute straight from a corner.

Beds and District responded soon after half time, added a second on the hour mark and sealed the tie in added time.

Arlesey's second team came from two goals down to draw 3-3 with Hitchin Hearts. Becky Saunders' hat-trick for Hearts included a penalty, while the scorers for the Blues were Michelle Whitehead, captain Emma Chamberlain and Emma Groombridge.
