Langford crumbled to a 4-0 home derby defeat to Biggleswade Town to deepen their relegation fears.

The Reds came close to opening the scoring in the 12th minute when a Wayne Goldsmith cross gave Dean Warren a clear run on goal but Martyn Patching pushed his effort away and Marc Holmes fired the rebound over the bar.

Five minutes later, the Reds were made to pay for that miss as Chris Winder won a header in the Langford area against two home defenders.

The ball ran to an unmarked Warren Grieve and he buried the ball under a diving Adam Lawrence to open the scoring against the club he represented last season.

Lawrence then came to the rescue as Dwaine Williams looked certain to finish a flowing move that started in the Biggleswade half.

The Waders doubled their lead on 30 minutes when Williams fired home a spectacular volley from 30 yards following a headed clearance from a free-kick. With two minutes of the half remaining, the width of the crossbar denied Warren's header from pulling a goal back following a Goldsmith cross.

A dispirited Langford side took the field for the second half and the visitors looked the far better team for the remainder of the game.

Holmes had a shot blocked in one of the few chances the Reds created during the half. For the Waders, there was another goal on the hour mark when Grieve set Ryan Jenner away on a one-on-one with Lawrence.

Jenner appeared to have let the ball run away from him but hesitation from the young keeper allowed Jenner to regain possession and roll into an empty net.

Even a triple substitution for the home side did nothing to raise their spirits. A substitution for the Waders on 70 minutes worked wonders though with Bobby Dance's first touch from a James Malley pass seeing Lawrence pick the ball out of his net for a fourth time during the afternoon.

Langford, now third from bottom, play already relegated Harpenden Town this Saturday.
