Langford Ladies ran out encouraging 3-0 winners in Sunday's match against Enfield at Welwyn Garden City's Herns Lane ground.

They took the lead when Faye Rees poked the ball home following a goalmouth scramble from a Nikki Day corner.

Donna McGuigan added a second on 32 minutes after being put clear by Laveena Betts.

Enfield enjoyed their best spell of the match either side of half time, hitting both bar and post.

Langford reasserted themselves as the game progressed, Rees adding her second and the team's third on 65 minutes, Betts again the supplier.

Laura Shearwood, playing in her first full game, went close late on as Enfield searched for a goal but the Langford defence stayed strong.

Reds: Verity Crook, Nikki Day, Debbie Styles, Sophie Bailey, Tessa Shaw, Donna McGuigan, Laveena Betts, Shelley Forster, Naomi Lyons, Faye Rees, Laura Shearwood.

The two teams of Arlesey Town Ladies certainly had mixed fortunes.

The first team won 3-0 against Stevenage Vixens with the match abandoned 20 minutes from time as the Vixens boss took his players off after they had already been reduced down to 10.

Arlesey's goalscorers were Katie Baldwin - her first for the club, Sarah Tayler and Karen Walker.

The Arlesey second team were beaten 9-0 by Hoddesdon Owls.

It was always going to be close and so it proved as Stevenage Boro Ladies were beaten 2-1 at Cottenham.

Boro started well, with a new formation which saw central midfielder Amy Vye playing at the back and central defender Lindsay Light starting in the front line.

Cottenham broke and their centre forward slotted the ball past the Boro keeper to open the scoring.

Boro fought back and left winger Jay Madden battled in a goalmouth scramble with the ball eventually ending up in the net - however, the ref disallowed it claiming the ball was kicked out of the Cottenham keeper's hands.

They were also awarded a penalty which right-back Emma Edwards stepped up to take but her shot was comfortably saved.

Another break from the home side before half time saw them double their lead.

Boro had to alter their formation after Kelly Milton, Katie Light and Ellie Luke all had to be substituted through injury.

Constant pressure on the Cottenham goal paid off halfway through the new period with striker Tasha Rolt wrong-footing the central defender and taking the ball round the keeper to pull one back.

Despite further chances, Boro could not force an equaliser.

Hitchin Hearts remain unbeaten in the Herts and Beds County League after winning 3-1 at Beds and District.

The introduction of Michelle Harper into midfield enabled the Hearts to dominate the play.

And the endless running and hard work of Annelie Olsson up front beside Becky Saunders enabled Saunders to get her third hat-trick in as many games.

The woodwork came to Beds and District's aid on a couple of occasions as Hearts piled on the pressure.

It was different at the start as the home side hit the bar in the first minute and continued to press in the opening stages.

They scored first, on the break, before Hearts levelled just before half-time. Saunders ran on to a great through ball and slotted the ball home.

Hearts had almost all the play after the break and an obvious handball on the line gave them a penalty and Saunders made no mistake to score her second goal.

Saunders' third goal sealed the points and they are now second in the table behind Luton Borough.
