After several weeks of encouraging performances, Bedwell Rangers U14 Girls finally recorded their first win of the season when they beat Garston Ladies Tigers 1-0.

Bedwell started brightly and deservedly went in front after nine minutes when Abbie S scored direct from a free-kick.

Bedwell continued to be on top for most of the first half but there were no further goals before the break.

The start of the second half saw Garston come back into the game and put the home defence under some pressure. However, Bedwell battled for everything and prevented their opponents from any clear-cut chances.

As the half went on Bedwell fought their way back into things and looked increasingly threatening going forward.

Although they created some good chances to increase their lead, it was a fantastic clearance off the line by Mia that meant the score remained 1-0 to Bedwell.

This was a really competitive and at times physical match, but Bedwell deserved their victory.

Three girls shared the Bedwell player of the match award: Mia for a solid display in the centre of defence, Abbie S for her determination to play on after picking up a second-half injury and Ebony who was involved all over the pitch.

Bedwell Rangers U12s are looking for more players currently in Year 7 to join their squad.
