LETCHWORTH recorded their eighth draw of the season on Saturday.
Letchworth captain Colin Letford won the toss and opted to field against St Margaretsbury.
St Margaretsbury raced to 261-6 with Letchworth having to contend with a wet ball due to rain for most of the innings which probably contributed to an extra 30 runs.
Their overseas player Brad Wilson scored 97.
Letchworth's response got off to a good start with 47 coming of the first 10 overs but with St Margaretsbury setting fairly defensive fields with sweepers on the boundary, Letchworth had little chance of reaching an already challenging total.
Letchworth finished on 193-8 with Steve March scoring 53 and 40 apiece for the in form John Hilliard and Richard Walsh.
The second XI also drew in a much more open and exciting game with Harpenden.
Harpenden batting first scored 243-2 in an innings reduced to 45 overs due to rain. This left Letchworth 39 overs and they almost made it closing out nine runs short of victory, on 235-7 with the in form Simon Elliott scoring 72 and 16-year-old Sam Booth 45.
The third XI slumped to their 3rd straight defeat. On an excellent Whitethorn Lane wicket they contrived to get bowled out for 117 by Southgate Compton who romped past that total in 29 overs for the loss of just four wickets.
The fourth XI also drew but again in a match that had a nail biting finish. Northwood III won the toss and decided to bat on another good looking wicket at Fairfield Park.
A rain interruption reduced their innings and they declared after 45 overs scoring 227 for 7. Letchworth started steadily against the old ball and two useful spinners reaching 100 off the first 25 overs of their allotted 43.
Then Matt Dear and Andy Catherell put on 108 runs in the next 17 overs scoring 69 not out and 39 respectively leaving 23 runs needed off the final over but Letchworth could only manage 17 finishing their innings on 222-5.
The fifth XI played a friendly against Bishop's Stortford development team bowling them out for 119 with Dan Burley and Matt Bridge taking four wickets each. Letchworth eased past the total in 21 overs losing just two wickets, 15-year-old Josh Furness scoring 65 not out.
On Sunday the Letchworth development team played at Welwyn GC who scored 133 in their 40 overs. Letchworth reached the target in 29.3 overs for the loss of just four wickets.
Sunday at Fairfield Park saw Letchworth Ladies beat Normandy, in their Southern League Division 2 match. Batting first Letchworth scored 100 but bowled Normandy out for 77 with Kathryn Ellsmore taking 4-23.
