Globetrotting international swimmer Rachael George is clocking up the air miles.

Rachael, a 16-year-old from Letchworth GC, has seen Spain and America in recent times and is set for a South American adventure to Brazil.

She is currently in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for an outdoor training camp.

This is because she has been selected by British Swimming as part of an elite squad of seven for the inaugural FINA World Youth Championships in Rio de Janeiro this month (August 23-27).

She previously represented Great Britain with success in the European Junior Championships in Mallorca, where she won a silver medal in the anchor leg of the women's 4x200m freestyle relay.

Her time of 2:02.17, a personal best, was the fastest of the team.

She also finished sixth in the individual 200m freestyle.

Rachael then returned to England to compete in the ASA National Youth Championships in Sheffield. She won gold in her age group for the 400m freestyle and two silver medals in her age group for the 200m and 100m freestyle events.

Rachael also took silver in the women's open 200m freestyle.

She is a member of Hatfield Swimming Club and a pupil at Highfield School in Letchworth.
