His century ensured only their second win in the Broadview Windows North Herts League this season as they crushed a strong Reed side.

Having lost the toss, the home side elected to bat first in the heat but Weston's young side coped admirably and restricted Reed to 217-6 off their 40 overs.

Veteran John McKean was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3-27 off six overs, while there was a wicket apiece for Dan Sampson, Jack Stevens and Pugh.

Pugh and Craig Braine shared an opening stand of 178 before losing Braine for 44, who had played the supporting role to Pugh's extravagant stroke play.

With just 40 runs required, Phil Stevens blazed a quickfire 23, including three sixes, to leave them victors by nine wickets and Pugh undefeated on 127.

Baldock beat Breachwood Green to record a vital victory in Division One.

They elected to bat and made 164-6 off 40 overs. Ranjit Rayat made a stylish 33 and Alistair Jones 28no at the end but it was young Nick Blenkin who held the innings together with 49.

Breachwood Green's reply was a disaster as they lost two wickets in the first over to Logan Newman and when Bhavesh Paun took two more, it left their innings in tatters at 30-4. Jones then took 4-16 as Breachwood Green were dismissed for 81 in just 20.5 overs as Baldock won by 83 runs.

Holwell were 49-run winners over Hatfield.

Chris Lemoir top scored with 44, backed up by Nigel Pointing (31) and Adam Parkins (25), as Holwell totalled 175.

Man of the match John Mansfield took 2-12 in eight overs as Hatfield struggled against tight bowling from Holwell.

Parkins (3-31), Dave Turner (2-17) and Freddie Hunte (2-4) helped bowl out Hatfield for 126.

Weakened Ickleford, including four under-15 colts, put up a good performance despite losing to St Joseph's in Division Two.

Peter Middleditch, Roy Izzard and John Williams took two wickets as St Joseph's made 224-7.

Victory was always going to be beyond Ickleford but a brilliant unbeaten 93 from James Dermont saw them make a creditable reply of 189-6. John Clark and Kevin Watson gave good support.

* Henlow's teenage all-rounder Andy Hicks went run crazy in their Beds League match against Ickwell seconds.

Hicks scored a massive 154no as the Division Two leaders powered to an imposing 325-5 in their 46 overs before bowling out the visitors for 158.

The seconds also won at their Flitwick counterparts in Division Three by eight wickets.

Lee Ownsworth took 3-39 in his 10 overs as Flitwick posted 211-5. Steady batting by Henlow, with Dean Kilby retiring on 58, saw Henlow lose only two wickets in reaching their target with 14 balls to spare.

Henlow won by seven wickets in Saturday's friendly at home to Kempston Methodists. Chasing the visitors' 170-5, Michael Johnson's 71 helped Henlow win.

* Letchworth Corinthians lost to Guilden Morden by just one wicket in Sunday's friendly.

Batting first, Corinthians made 196-7 from their 40 overs.

Mike Hughes hit an excellent 86 and shared a second wicket stand of 117 with Anthony Wood (36) before Ian Besant chipped in with a useful 35.

Guilden kept up with the asking rate in reply and reached their target with one over remaining. Dave Gash picked up 3-28 in his five-over spell.

Visitors Whitwell won by six wickets against Preston seconds.

The hosts were asked to bat first and totalled 165-5 with Chris Newell among the runs again with an unbeaten 46, Andy Braithwaite 40 and 15-year-old Ben Hill next best on 37no.

Tim Coombes made 72 as Whitwell never looked in trouble and got home by six wickets.
