PRESTON travelled to Langleybury in the Village Cup on Sunday.

After losing an early wicket Preston moved to 48-1 after 13 overs before a couple of quick wickets put them on the back foot.

Intelligent batting from Adam Shelley (35) and Anthony Elder (49 not out) allowed them to post a score of 139 in their 40 overs.

The target looked within Langleybury's reach but the tight bowling of Richard Gatehouse, Anthony Ender and Indi kept Langleybury to three runs an over.

The introduction of Ben Burrows turned turned the game in Preston's direction as he picked up three quick wickets.

With 40 needed off nine overs and with four wickets remaining, Langleybury just scraped home with two overs to spare.

Preston 2nds lost to Potters Bar 3rds by four wickets on Saturday but redeemed themselves on Sunday beating a young Stevenage side by five wickets. Stevenage scored 99 and Preston reached a winning total with the loss of five wickets thanks to a brisk 30 from David Williams.

Holwell easily beat Therfield thanks to Adam Parkins' 4-24 in six overs. Therfield were all out for 82 with Chris Lemoir and Julian Rudder both picking up two wickets.

Holwell claimed a 10 wicket victory with skipper Rudder 54 not out and and Steve Gatward 21 not out in 17 overs.
