Potton United's footballers are into the last 32 of the Carlsberg FA Vase.

They made it through to the fourth round of the Vase with a 1-0 win over Leverstock Green, who are currently in second place in the South Midlands League, on Saturday.

The first half was evenly contested with Brad Gillham pulling off some fine saves to deny the hosts.

Potton took the lead midway through the second half when debutant Lee Allinson fired across the keeper with an excellent strike.

Leverstock Green piled on the pressure in the last 10 minutes but some solid defending and excellent goalkeeping saw Potton through to the fourth round.

They will host AFC Totton on Saturday, January 20.

Four second-half goals gave Potton a well-deserved victory in the second round of the United Counties League Knockout Cup at home to Blackstones on Tuesday night.

The first half offered few chances although Blackstones failed to take advantage of their two half chances.

But the second half was one-way traffic for the Royals.

A Paul Garrett free-kick from the edge of the area deceived the visiting keeper to put the home side ahead and Allinson added the second by converting a Mark Bryant cross.

Steve Kuhne headed home a Garrett corner before Ian Morrison finished a great move that started from the back.

Biggleswade United piled on the agony for Leverstock Green by beating them 2-1 in the league on Tuesday night.

Marc Holmes and Gary Jackson put United 2-0 up and they held on to move out of the bottom two.

Biggleswade Town twice held the lead before sharing the points at Royston on Saturday. Only a late penalty denied them maximum points.
