Potton United remain in the top six in the UCL Premier Division despite defeat on Tuesday night.

They went down 2-1 at The Hollow to bogey side St Ives, the fourth time the Cambridgeshire side have beaten them since their promotion to the top flight.

James Billington gave Potton the lead on the half hour but Graeme Thackray squared the match after 50 minutes and settled it with this second goal eight minutes later.

The Royals won 1-0 at home to Long Buckby on Saturday.

The visitors provided spirited opposition and Paul Garrett (shown right) was the Potton matchwinner six minutes into the second period. Garrett's clincher was a fine solo effort as a lengthy run ended with a shot from 18 yards.

It was another disappointing result for Biggleswade Town on Saturday as they lost 2-1 at home to Colney Heath despite them going ahead early in the second half.

The first half reflected the league positions of the teams, two poor sides cancelling each other out. There were half chances for both sides but nothing of note to test either keeper.

A half-time downpour added a bit of zip to the pitch and the same seemed to apply to the Waders as they started the second half well and put the visitors under early pressure.

They were soon rewarded in the 50th minute when Neil Morgan managed to get to the line and put in a cross which Scott Orphanou met as he slid in front of a defender to give Biggleswade the lead.

With the goal came increased confidence and the Waders continued to play well without adding to their lead, Jamie Abbott going closest when he hit the post from an acute angle.

Colney Heath equalised when they were awarded a free-kick 25 yards from goal in the 68th minute and Jake Parrett fired past the defensive wall.

The Waders seemed to lose their confidence again and Colney Heath looked more likely to snatch the win.

And so it proved in the 87th minute when a cross from the left came in and keeper Lee Robinson let it slip through his hands and Daniel Staples pounced to fire home from close range.

Biggleswade United were beaten as well in the SML Premier Division on Saturday.

They lost 4-0 at Harefield United with Danny Jordan's hat-trick adding to an opening goal by Sean Sonner.
