The North Herts Premier Pool Summer Championship has been won in nail-biting fashion.

Hitchin side Broadmead went to Stevenage's Tom Tiddlers needing only two frames to secure the title.

This seemed in jeopardy when a combination of nerves and top quality play, including winning frames by current England youth international Perry Gillett, put the Tiddlers into a 7-1 lead.

With just two frames left in which to secure the title, hotshot Meaders cuesman Andy Richards secured his second frame of the night to both rapturous applause and relief.

The Tiddlers may still taste silverware as they head into the final of the knockout plate as firm favourites against the Anchor Academics.

The Premier League is still seeking new entries for the winter season.

All you need is a minimum of five players and host venues can be arranged.
