The Stevenage School Sports Co-ordinator Partnership moved into its second phase this week.

It is being expanded to include all the schools in Stevenage and the surrounding local villages.

Jill Eaton, the partnership development manager, said: "This is an exciting time for both school and community sport and our expansion promises increased opportunities for all youngsters."

Already there is set to be lots of variety in Stevenage schools involving Saracens Rugby Club, along with partnership community coaches.

There are many initiatives already running such as Top-up swimming, Young Ambassadors and a Big Lottery programme which focuses on introducing new sports within schools.

The national PE and school club links programme will now be delivered in every school in England.

This is all part of the government's drive to create a legacy for sport and to ensure that every child has at least two hours of high quality PE a week.

Eaton added that the Stevenage team of school sports co-ordinators (SSCO's), community coaches and primary link teachers offer a wealth of experience and enthusiasm.

All the Stevenage schools work in close partnership with Sport Stevenage, Stevenage Borough Council, Stevenage Leisure Ltd and the extended schools consortiums to increase opportunities for youngsters.

If any companies would like to sponsor the partnership, please call Jill Eaton on 01438 314537.
