The Sunday Cross Country League finished at the weekend with a cold and bleak race held on Therfield Heath and hosted by Royston Road Runners.
The multi-lap race on an undulating course was blessed with snow and sub-zero temperatures to provide that ‘real cross country’ feel for the final race.
Steve Harrison led home the Team Trident runners in 36th ahead of Mark Robertson (40th), Keiran Sinclair (49th), Tom Bailey (66th), Gary Freer (69th), Mike Russell (82nd), Mark Grayson (104th) and Matt Cooke 105th.
Stuart Cooke (108th), Richard Weltz (118th), Duncan Godfrey (125th), Ed Manson (153rd) and Tony Shortland (172nd) also ran in support.
Helen Shulver visited for the weekend and was rewarded with a top 10 finish and first overall for Team Trident in 10th on the 5.5 mile course.
Elodie Levis (35th), Megan Holden (50th), Sarah Scotchmer (51st) and Jackie Perry made up the five for the scoring A team.
Sam Tophill, who was 64th, also competed in support of the Trident team.
Overall the women finished sixth and the men ninth from 19 clubs in the league.
Also in running, Gary Freer improved his 5k PB to 10 minutes 18 seconds in the Bedford parkrun.
