Road Runners in action in Parliament Hill Fields

Vanessa Rolfe first home for NHRR in two-lap 8km race

This weekend saw six North Herts Road Runners take part in the Southern XC Championships at Parliament Hill Fields, Hampstead Heath.

First to tackle this notoriously difficult course were the ladies and in the two-lap, 8km race Vanessa Rolfe was the first lady finishing in 369th place followed by Lindsay Cook in 373rd.

Next to tackle the mud and hills were the men in the three-lap 15km race. In a field of 850 runners, Rob Harris was first in for NHRR in 259th position on his Parliament Hill debut. Fellow debutant James Walsh was next in 400th followed by Gary Cook in 451st.

Chris Priestley finished in 848th.

Chris also competed in the monthly Serpentine 5km in London’s Hyde Park on Friday and finished in 20:57 and was third in the V55 race.

Martyn Annetts also took part, completing the race in 20:37.

In warmer climes, Cathy Craig ran a new PB of 2:09:30 in the Santa Pola Half Marathon in Spain, while at the Barcelona Half Marathon Sharon Jenkins ran a new PB of two hours 14 minutes and Angela Piumi was pleased with her time of two hours two minutes.
