Sobitie and Huggins impress at the Lea Valley Athletics Centre

The first day of the London Indoor Games took place at the Lee Valley Athletics Centre for under-15 and under-17 athletes on Sunday and seven athletes from Stevenage and North Herts Athletic Club competed.

Under-15s Kim Sibotie and Martha Huggins achieved new personal best (PB) performances as Kim was timed at 23.93 secs in the 200m and jumped 5.49 metres in the long jump, while Martha improved her high jump by nine centimetres to jump 1.45m and in her first pole vault competition cleared 2.06m. Other under-15s competing were Max Schopp (1.60 in the high jump and 9.16s in the 60m hurdles) and Sarah Feely (2:47.78 in the 800m),

In the under-17 events, Kashif Jones, Laura Feely and Alice Rackham competed. Rackham and Feely recorded new PBs, the latter clearing 1.65m in the high jump and the former clocking 9.55s for the 60m, 3.47m in the long jump and 4.48m in the shot putt.

Jones jumped 1.80m in the high jump.

Also competing at the weekend Moe Sasegbon cleared 1.66m at the Loughborough Open meeting.
