Ian Tivey also in action over the festive period

North Herts Road Runners’ Ian Tivey had the honour of being the last member to race in 2010 as he completed the Ely New Year’s Eve 10km in a sparkling 34:56 to finish ninth in a highly competitive field.

Meanwhile, maintaining his record of being the first Road Runner to race in the New Year for the sixth consecutive year John Russell was up at the crack of dawn to take part in the 7.45am version of the Milton Keynes 5km and watch the sunrise.

Russell then ran in the official race, held at the more usual time of 10am, and was pleased to cross the line in 20:08 finishing 13th out of the 102 finishers and third in the V45 category.

Enjoying a later start of 11am, Andy Mutton and ladies’ captain Tash Davies travelled to Hyde Park to race in the Serpentine New Year’s Day 10km.

Despite pre-Christmas training being severely disrupted by the weather Mutton finished 13th with a PB of 35:42 whilst Tash recorded a sub-42 minute clocking to finish third V35.
