A BALDOCK bowler has become one half of the British Isles junior pairs champions.
Heather Stapleford (left), a 26-year-old from Great Ashby in Stevenage, won the British Isles 25 and under pairs title at Birmingham.
The Baldock Bowls Club member was partnered by 17-year-old Nicola Coombe from Cassiobury Park in Watford.
The pair were the English national title winners in 2005 to earn the right to play the winners of Ireland, Scotland and Wales this year.
Heather and Nicola beat Wales by two sets to nil in the semi-finals to set up a meeting in the final with Ireland.
After the sides won a set apiece, the English duo won the title on a tie-break.
