Hertfordshire face their first home game of the season against Wiltshire at Radlett on Sunday.
They were disappointed to lose a close opening game against Cambridgeshire on Sunday but excited by the potential and spirit they showed.
"There were many, many positives," said captain Andy Lewis.
Chief of those was the way his team battled so hard after a potentially disastrous mini-batting collapse of five wickets for 20 runs to post a competitive score of 245-8 in the 50-over One-Day Trophy match at March.
They then fought like tigers in the field to defend it, succumbing only in the 49th over after a high-class century from former Essex batsman Ian Flanagan.
Herts started in truly spectacular style on Sunday, Nick Walker and the former Surrey legend David Ward putting on 90 by the 11th over.

Herts fell from 90-0 to 118-5 mainly due to 52-year-old Tim Smith.
Steven Lowe (Radlett) and Knebworth Park's wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Jenkins then came together. Lowe made a masterful 54 and Jenkins an astute 38 in a crucial partnership of 92.
They eventually finished their overs on 245-8, a total they felt was 30 runs shy of what they wanted.
Cambs slipped to 30-2 but Flanagan and Danny Law, the former Essex and Sussex all-rounder, put together a high-class partnership of 142.
Law eventually fell to a fine leg-side catch by Jenkins off Ben Frazer.
Cambs slumped to 223-6 but held their nerve to win by four wickets halfway through the penultimate over.
