Riders from Hitchin Nomads Cycling Club will seek to extend their lead in the season long inter-club time trial competition against rival clubs Icknield RC and Bedfordshire RC this Sunday.

The first event was a 10-mile time trial in May which the Nomads won resoundingly with eight of the top 10 finishers.

This Sunday's event is over 25 miles based on Southill in Mid Beds.

Club captain Steve Robinson said: "We hope to continue the story; the team is highly motivated this year and our top riders are just coming into form for the national team time trial championships on July 2. The inter-club 25 will be a great warm-up for them."

Hitchin Nomads were formed in the town way back in 1934.

The club is active in all areas of cycling from social rides to touring and competitive cycling on road and track.

Nomads promote more than 30 competitive events per year, and have regular club rides and training sessions every week throughout the year as well as club tours and social events.
