Letchworth begin life back in the Hertfordshire Premier League on Saturday with a trip to Harpenden and they will be hoping a new face from Australia can help them have a successful season back in the top division.

Peter New, 21, from Tasmania, has joined the club for the summer and the wicket-keeper batsman will provide top order support to the batting line up and a tidy pair of hands behind the stumps.

Letchworth, currently the only north Hertfordshire club in the Premier League, are looking in good shape ahead of the season with New joining an already impressive top order which features last year’s top run scorer in the Championship Tom Simmons and captain Will Bates.

Praveen Bhatti will lead the bowling attack once more alongside Richard Barclay while all-rounder Maxford Pipe will no doubt provide entertainment with bat and ball once again.
