FVS TRI duathletes were in hot form again in the second of the three-race Milton Keynes Big Cow Winter Duathlon Series.

The event comprised a 4.5k run, 16k bike ride and 3.8k run at the MK Bowl and FVS TRI earned two silvers and two bronze medals.

The ladies' and junior races went off first.

Lesley Dutton was first home for the club in a superb second position to add to her win in the first race, securing her lead in the series.

Penny Wylie was an excellent third, having led Lesley throughout the bike leg, she was just pipped on the run.

Sean Bradley returned to the MK Bowl to secure second spot in the junior race, having won one of the summer races in 2005. This topped off an excellent week for him as he has been selected to compete for Bedfordshire in the national schools' cross-country event.

In a close male veterans' race, Steve James was first home for the club in third to add to his second from race one and is now in contention for series honours at the last race this month.

Steve Chalk had a great race to finish sixth, while Steve Mussett competed in his first multi-sport event.

The male senior race was the largest field with more than 60 competitors, six of whom were in FVS TRI colours.

Nick Downing took the honours, just beating James Brooks by eight seconds, with Jon Gillham not far behind. This was a remarkable result as it was the first time Nick had competed!
