Hitchin cyclist finishes top of the podium at off-road Muddy Monsters

Hitchin schoolboy Ted Brett has won the popular Muddy Monsters off-road Go-Ride Racing series in Cyclo-Cross.

Ted, who is 11, competed in the challenging competition over six weeks and when all the points were added together he came out top of the U12s.

Riders had to take part in a sprint and endurance race at each event.

The muddy circuit beside the Gosling Stadium in Welwyn GC had banks and logs placed along the way of the technical course.

The weather was cold and frosty, but this did not deter Ted, who cycles for Welwyn Wheelers, as he produced many great finishes in his age group.

The events were action packed wheel-to-wheel races with some close-fought contests with different winners in each round.
