Hitchin Rugby Club's mini and youth section has just been awarded its RFU Active Sports Seal of Approval accreditation - for the second time!

This accreditation is a joint award from the RFU and Sport England and recognises that the Hitchin club provides a safe, effective, fun and child friendly environment for rugby.

The award is indicative of the quality of rugby provision the club offers and its commitment to the continued development of young rugby players in the area.

Hitchin Rugby Club first received the Seal of Approval in 2004 and was the first recipient in Hertfordshire.

This second award indicates that the club is meeting its targets in developing rugby within the town and surrounding villages through links with schools, increasing player numbers in both the boys and girls' sections and coaching development.

Hitchin is a successful club at mini and youth rugby level, running sides at every age group from under-sevens to under-19s. All abilities, shapes and sizes are welcome.

Tim Jeffries, chairman of the mini and youth section at Hitchin, said: "We are very proud that our community rugby programme has once again been recognised by the rugby authorities through the award of the Seal of Approval. Our aim is to make rugby fun and with our coaching and training every Sunday we ensure everyone gets the most out of the sport."
