The mini tennis teams at Letchworth Tennis Club have had a fantastic start to 2006 with an unbeaten record at all three levels!
The red under-eight team, Letchworth Lobbers, had a good start in their local indoor box league with a convincing 109-42 points win over Stevenage's Lister Tennis Club.
The team of David Stevenson, Sam Tomlinson, Imogen Magner and Alice Turner will next play Welwyn.
In the Beds League, Letchworth enter two teams at each of the three mini tennis levels of red, orange and green.
Six matches out of six have been won in January, and the first green team are set to retain their title as holders of the top division with three wins out of three and only two matches to go!
Congratulations to the youngsters and a thank you to the parents who have helped with the organising.
The 10 and under team did extremely well before Christmas to come third in the county in the finals at Gosling.
Their team was Julian Farthing, William Ringe, Amy Draper and Sarah Jones.
The club holds regular weekly matchplays on Saturday afternoons at all three levels. Players from local clubs are invited to attend. Please call the club on 01462 675444 for more details.
P David Felgate, director of performance at the Lawn Tennis Association, will be visiting the club tomorrow (Friday) to officially launch their new performance programme.
He will be working with Steve Shea, head of performance at Letchworth Tennis Club, to ensure the programme meets all the requirements of a top performance centre.
