THE Manor Farm fishery at Biggleswade has got a special offer at the end of the month.

It has teamed up with the Environment Agency to offer free taster sessions for coarse anglers of all ages on Monday, May 29. Please leave a message on 01767 317835 to register your interest.

Trout at the fishery are starting to become more selective due to the abundance of natural food now in the water.

Smaller, natural flies are generally better on floating lines such as buzzers, ptn, daiwl bach and damsel. Of course the regular flies such as montana and cats whisker are also working but not as well as earlier in the season.

Anglers must start to change their tactics to carry on catching the fish - they are still going in!

It was a fantastic week of catches on the Specimen Carp Lakes with the warmer weather, although things have slowed a little due to the rain.

On the Carp Lake, at least 10 fish over 20lb were landed in a week, with Craig Waddington and Sam Arnold (Sandy) each independently landing a 26 pounder; one of which was caught on A&M Baits crab boilies.

Sam Yaffie of Biggleswade also landed a 21lb and 22lb common (shown above) on the same A&M Baits.

The Winters Lake similarly had a good week with Richard Bennett of Biggleswade landing a 26lb mirror and an 18lb common on A&M crab boilies.

Becks Lake has followed the same trend with some specimen carp and bream being landed as well as an 8lb tench on tutti fruitie popup - bream to 9lb 2ozs and carp to 16lb 4ozs. Best baits are halibut pellets, sweetcorn and method mix or small fruit flavoured popups.

Night fishing is available to book on the Carp, Becks and Winters Lakes on 01767 317835 - please leave a message.

Mixed and pleasure fishing is looking good at present.

The weekend's match on The Canal with Team Popletts of Stevenage resulted in: 1 - Nigel Smith 51-14; 2 - Paul Raymond 46-2; 3 - Alan Oaks 43-2; 4 - James Drakulic 39-2.

Day tickets are available on this canal with good mixed bags of small carp, bream, tench, roach and perch.

Best methods here are float fished maggot, pellet or sweetcorn with some loose feed.

Equally The Blunham Lake has had some good catches with Nick Collins of Langford landing 25lbs of silver fish on caster.

Fishing light is still the best method using size 18s with 2lb bottom but watch out for the bigger carp. Best baits are maggot, worm or sweetcorn.
