You can only take your hat off to the Letchworth Garden City based Herts Advance Development Centre.

The young footballers recently played Luton Town's elite squad at under-nine,10 and 11 age level.

The idea behind this showcase and other similar ones is for all the boys to display their talent to the League club involved. If chosen, it gives them the opportunity to obtain a contract at a professional club.

Eighteen boys from the Herts Advance Development Centre have successfully gained contracts with professional clubs like Ipswich, Luton, Chelsea, Watford and Spurs in the last two years.

All three age groups were played in three 20-minute intervals in an eight-a-side small-sided game with subs allowed.

An open day for trials is on Tuesday (March 6) at 5pm for under-eights only at Letchworth Corner Sports Club in Whitethorn Lane.
