AS one striker returns from loan, another one has left Broadhall Way for a month,

Jon Nurse is back as Boro prepare for two important home games in the next few days.

The striker has returned from a successful month's loan at Woking as Mark Stimson's side face last season's promotion finalists Halifax this Saturday and ironically old rivals the Cards on Tuesday night.

Stimson said: "We only let Jon go to get some fitness and play some games which he has done."

Former Luton man Tony Thorpe, who has failed to make much of an impression since arriving in the summer, has been loaned out to League Two Grimsby for a month.

"He wants to play football on a regular basis and Grimsby have offered him the chance to do that," added Stimson.

Boro still have Nurse, Darryn Stamp and Chris Sullivan challenging the current partnership of Steve Morison and George Boyd.

Another man seeking regular football is Boro's former skipper Jason Goodliffe.

The 32-year-old central defender has asked if he can go on loan in order to play games but Boro have refused for the time being.

Stimson continued: "Jason is a model pro and understandably wants to play football every week.

"He's at a stage in his football career where every week is important and he doesn't want to miss a game. That's understandable but we've got a lot of games coming up in the next few weeks and he's an important part of our squad.

"Luke (Oliver) and Hasim (Deen) are both waiting for a chance to get in the side as well, but Ronnie Henry and Santos have developed a great understanding and complement each other well.

"The last two results and performance have been decent and we'll aim to continue that.
