Over 500 people packed Letchworth Rugby Club to honour the memory of one of the most-loved sons.
Graham Walker, a former captain and chairman at Legends Lane as well as being president of the county, died in January after a long fight with cancer.
The COVID-19 lockdown at the time made celebrating his life impossible but the lifting of restrictions changed that and the club were determined to pay their respects.
Two games were organised and friends and team-mates with six ex-skippers among those who flocked to don the boots again.
In the first the Letchworth veterans narrowly overcame their Bishop Stortford counterparts while in the second, a squad in Graham's name took on Herts County development, winning a narrow contest 15-5.
Emotional speeches were given by his widow Jo, Welwyn president Mark Elliott and Letchworth chairman Brian Burke and the day, one of the busiest in club history, was rounded off by a live band.
Funds raised on the day were divided between the rugby club itself, a local charity and the 25 club, a group of ex-players ex-players who raise money to fund projects outside of the normal club fund-raising.
