Letchworth Ladies shared the points with a strong Chelmsford outfit in a fast and end-to-end game.

They started strongest and had the better of the opening exchanges.

So it was rather against the run of play when, after 17 minutes, the visitors overloaded the home defence to take the lead from a far post tap-in.

Letchworth gradually worked their way back in to the game and missed two great chances to equalise before captain Nicola Cooper slotted one home almost on the stroke of half-time.

The end-to end nature of the play continued in the second half, with Chelmsford looking shaky in defence but always threatening in attack.

Fifteen minutes into the half, Letchworth took the lead when, following a mazy dribble, Helene Wehrmann hammered a low shot into the net.

It looked as though Letchworth would hold on for three points but the visitors snatched a share of the points from a penalty corner just five minutes from the end.

Letchworth face a tough trip to league leaders Cambridge City this weekend.

Stevenage Ladies were beaten 2-1 by Gillingham Anchorians.

The first half was an even affair with both sides creating chances but fine defending and keeping preventing any goals going in.

Some agonisingly close shaves from Stevenage saw shots go wide or hit the side netting. Even a succession of penalty corner awards could not break the deadlock.

The second half started much the same but Gillingham found a way through to give themselves the lead when a weak attempt from a penalty corner was just pushed over the line.

Stevenage excelled in response and answered Gillingham's goal with unrelenting pressure on their goal. The equaliser finally came when Lucy Harvey unleashed a powerful strike that beat both the lone defender and the excellent keeper.

The game settled after this flurry of activity and Stevenage continued to press the back line until a break for Anchorians caught them on the back foot.

With a penetrating run up the left flank, their striker crossed the line into the D and then buried her shot in the bottom corner.

Despite some desperate attempts, Stevenage were denied another equaliser and slipped to mid-table in East League Division Two South.

There was a 2-0 win for the favourites as the seconds met the thirds in a league clash.

Amanda Lawrence was strong sweeping for the third team with her counterpart Penny Fanthorpe matching her efforts.

The second half opened up and Maria Perzaolli swept home a ball across the D to take the seconds ahead.

Moments later, Harriet Richards and Rebecca Hamilton in defence worked well to get the ball through the field and up to Bec Howe in midfield. Howe provided a great cross for Sophie Warden to strike home the second.

Nicki Reynolds came close for the thirds when she was denied from close range.

Other scores: Stev Ladies IV 0 Blueharts II 7; Stev Ladies V 0 Welwyn Garden City V 3.

Blueharts Ladies recorded their first league win of the season against Broxbourne 2nds - and it was a six-goal rout.

Their attacking play was rewarded early on with a fine goal from midfielder Lizzie Bayley who has recently returned to the area and her old club.

Harts then piled on the pressure in midfield and attack with Jo Floor putting two strikes away before half time.

Despite a few breaks in the second half, Broxbourne were unable to pull a goal back, their best chance thwarted by a fantastic stick-save at the top of the D by Blueharts keeper Rho Keen.

Sensing their first victory, Harts produced their best team performance for some time.

They scored three further goals from Jay Livermore, Kerry Ross and a cheeky, through the legs, shot from Emma Field.

It was a magnificent seven for the seconds as they thrashed Stevenage 4ths.

Player of the match Tamsin Alderson scored two close range goals and Erin O'Boyle netted her first league goal in 10 years!

Susie Powell also scored twice and Harts added two more through Gina Joseph and a superb corner conversion from Kate Rogers.
