Ickleford were involved in a dramatic finish against Radlett 2nds on Saturday as needing eight from the last over and then two from the final delivery Sammy Fookes was run out going for the second and the game finished in a tie.

Radlett made 153-9 on a wicket that was not as batsman-friendly as might have been expected of a ground used by Middlesex.

Matt Marsden took 3-45 and Axel Morris 2-42 but Luke Marsden (1-26) and Jason Timm (2-34) were the pick of the attack.

Again Ickleford got off to a bad start and were 10-2 and 20-3 but Matt Baxter’s 38 and John Hilliard’s 45 kept them in the hunt before Fookes, with 21, earned the tie which gave Ickleford 20 points.

The 2nds remain top of the table after a comprehensive win over Chipperfield Clarendon.

Ickleford amassed 225-4 before declaring. Simon Wagstaff led the way with 74 and was well supported by Nick Timm (50) and Mark Schumann (42*).

Chipperfield were shot out for just 53 with another six wickets for Scot Crouch meaning he has taken 17 in his last three league games.

The 3rds lost off the fourth ball of the last over with Hatfield and Crusaders nine wickets down.

Ickleford made 222-7 with Sam Giggle (57*), Tom Willoughby (32), Nick Webb (28*) and Dave Pursey (32) all making contributions with the bat.

Richard Peareth’s 5-50 and Mark Howard’s 3-29 came close to winning the game for Ickleford but Hatfield achieved the nine runs they needed from the last over.
