Mid-table Langford upset the odds on Wednesday night as they defeated Baldock Town 3-2 in Spartan South Midlands Division One at Top Field.

Despite the away side’s uninspiring home form, their travelling performances have been of more merit and they showed their mettle again to obtain another win.

Two goals in the space of three minutes put the visitors in command as Chris Nield headed home the opener and Ryan Nichol’s long-range strike doubled the advantage.

Baldock might have dominated the opening 20 minutes of the first half but within a few momemts of the start of the second half, they were three goals down.

Craig Nield’s determination allowed him to evade the Baldock backline and scramble home John Vooght’s cross as the hosts looked on in anguish.

Just when it seemed that Langford would cruise to a surprisingly comfortable win, they were rocked by two goals in a couple of minutes at the end.

In added time, Jack Gregson curled a long shot past a surprised Scott Walters and then Luke Gregson scored from close range after a scramble in the goalmouth.

Langford hung on for the points though.
