Langford Ladies continued their good run with a 2-0 win as they entertained fourth placed Ipswich Town Ladies in a league fixture at Herns Lane, Welwyn Garden City.
A first half containing few chances ended goalless as both sides played too direct and found the defenders able to deal comfortably with the aerial threat. Faye Rees and Jade White both had shooting opportunities but failed to find the target.
Five minutes into the second half, Langford opened the scoring when a pass from Laveena Betts was cut out by an Ipswich defender who then underhit a back pass to her keeper.
Rees sensed an opening and won the ball in a 50-50 challenge with the keeper and after picking herself up off the floor, calmly slid the ball home into an empty net.
Any fightback from the visitors was snuffed out on 55 minutes when the keeper failed to deal with Nikki Day's near-post corner and Laura Bright nodded home the bouncing ball.
Langford looked to add to their score as sub Frankie Locock went close several times having the ball saved or cleared off the line when the keeper was beaten.

Hitchin Hearts were 2-0 winners at home in the Beds and Herts Women's League.
Visitors Luton Borough 'parked a bus' in front of their goal to frustrate Hearts in the first half.
Spaces began to appear in the visitors' defence as the second half wore on.
Laura Ravenscroft opened the scoring with a delicate chip from the left that gave the keeper no chance.
Ollie Olsson added the second with an exquisite lob midway through the half.
A solid defensive display kept Luton down to just a couple of chances with Paula Hawkins, Mandy Cain and Ronnie D'Amico in fine form.
Tracy Ross got the player of the match award for a tireless display up front.
Arlesey Town Ladies shared the points at home to Kings Sports in their first league game since February 4.
They secured an early lead through a superb shot by Sarah Tayler which lobbed into the top corner on 10 minutes.
Arlesey pressed more during the half but just were not able to find the back of the net again despite some opportunities.
Kings had the wind behind them after the break and had more of the play than Arlesey for the second 45 minutes.
Arlesey held out until the 65th minute as possession was lost in midfield and Kings were quick to attack down the right.
A cross was firmly met by a Kings striker to bring the teams back to parity.
