Arlesey Town Ladies gained their first win of the season away from home.

They earned valuable league points in winning 2-0 at Kings Sports.

Arlesey survived some early scares, although they were able to keep the home side's chances to a minimum.

Twenty minutes in, Arlesey took the lead as Julia Booker's corner was only partially cleared and Sarah Tayler rifled home.

The lead was doubled by Tayler from the penalty spot, awarded for handball, within minutes.

The second half developed into a real midfield battle, with Arlesey coming out on top and Tayler coming close to a hat-trick.

Their win took Arlesey two places above the relegation zone.

Top versus bottom was not the expected foregone conclusion as struggling Hitchin Hearts entertained Sawbridgeworth.

The leaders came to Ickleford expecting a comfortable win but they did not count on the fighting spirit of the hosts.

They reduced the visitors to only two goals, either side of half-time.

Jaz Jennings had an outstanding game at right-back and Laura Ravenscroft again impressed the visitors as she was named their player of the match.
