GOALKEEPER Tony Harvey was the star as Stotfold earned a point against unbeaten visitors Deeping Rangers on Tuesday night.

Man of the match Harvey helped secure a 1-1 draw at Roker Park.

After two good chances came and went at the Deeping end for Ryan Mitchell and Callum Donnelly, it was the visitors who took the lead on 13 minutes through Lee Ellison when he headed down from a corner.

A collision between defenders allowed Danny Matson a good chance but he was seen wide by Harvey 10 minutes later. Mark Baines was also put clean through twice for Rangers but both shots were well stopped before the break.

The Stotfold equaliser came on the hour mark when Donnelly, in for the suspended Ian Thorne, ran down the right and crossed to the far post for Joe Philbin to beat the defender to the ball and fire in.

Ten minutes later, following a goalmouth scramble, Jamie Taylor was adjudged to have handled the ball and Matson stepped up to take the penalty.

After Harvey parried low to his left, Matson hit the rebound wide of the far post and empty net.

There was still another great save left in Harvey's locker when Baines was put clean through four minutes from time.

Rokermen: Harvey, Taylor, Purton, Mitchell, Geraghty, Drury (Alcide 48m), Nichol, Delacy, Donnelly, Philbin (Bull 74m), Downham (Hull 82m).

Langford crashed out of the SML Premier Division Cup, losing 6-2 at Broxbourne Borough.

Robert Groves and Marc Barnes twice gave them the lead before a second-half capitulation.
