Letchworth Ladies continued their post-Christmas East Premier League unbeaten run with an excellent home win.

They beat Cambridge City 1-0 after a bright start where they looked the more likely of the teams to open the scoring.

And Letchworth did so after just nine minutes when Lizzie White, coming in from the left, picked up a loose ball in the circle to slot home.

With Sarah Parkhouse dominating the midfield, Letchworth continued to press for the remainder of the half, creating further chances but unable to extend the lead.

The second half was more even with Letchworth narrowly missing out on further goals but with the visitors also drawing keeper Teresa Hisgrove into action on several occasions.

Letchworth dug deep and battled to the end to hold on for a deserved victory.

The two meetings between Stevenage Ladies and Gore Court have not been dull affairs this season.

Saturday's game finished 3-3, while the previous meeting was a 10-goal thriller as Stevenage came back from 5-1 down to force a draw.

Gore Court started the match with relentless pressure before Stevenage regained their composure. They began to win back possession, supplying balls through the midfield to Lucy Harvey up front who was denied numerous goalscoring opportunities by some good defending.

Against the run of play, Gore Court opened the scoring when their second penalty corner of the match was forced over the line.

Stevenage opened the second half on top and were soon rewarded with a short corner. Top striker Emma Isherwood was on hand on the post, deftly flicking the ball over the committed keeper.

Stevenage were caught on a break when Gore Court were awarded a penalty corner, a good slip to the striker beating Lisa Pickard in goal.

A response came soon after when a great ball from Carly Seaton put Harvey through on goal. She calmly skipped around the committed keeper before slotting home.

Stevenage pulled ahead for the first time minutes later when Heather Hemmings slipped the ball back to Kate Chapman on the top of the D, whose strike just beat the keeper and defender to go over the line.

Minutes from time, a controversial penalty corner was awarded to Gore Court, despite an injury to a Stevenage defender moments earlier. Gore Court took their chance and scored their third goal from a corner to bring the scores level.

Other scores: Stevenage II 2 (Hannah Finch, Hannah Wilkinson) Hertford 1; Stevenage III 2 (Georgia Fung, Bec Howe) Cheshunt II 1; Stevenage IV 0 Shefford and Sandy IV 6; Stevenage V 0 Rickmansworth 0.

Blueharts Ladies hosted Saffron Walden in the Five Counties League and went down to a 3-1 defeat.

With key players missing, Harts still took the lead through player of the match Rachel Morey. She picked up the ball at the halfway line and drove towards goal before striking home.

This lead was short-lived with Saffron Walden capitalising on a short corner and bringing the scores equal.

Harts conceded a late goal at the end of the half to go in behind.

They dominated the rest of the game and were unlucky not to equalise. The final goal went to Saffron Walden to leave the ladies dissatisfied with their defeat.

The seconds took on Bishop's Stortford in an action-filled 9-0 game.

There was a goal feast for top scorer Gina Joseph after Helen Sadler opened the scoring. Joseph scored five after the break with Sadler adding another to her tally and Hannah Ross and Susie Powell striking clear shots from the top of the D.
